I am an applied economist with research interests in environmental and natural resource economics.  My current work examines the effectiveness of urban environment improvement regulations such as air pollution reduction policy.

Metropolitan traffic-related air pollution is one of the most important sources of ambient air pollution in the U.S.  A mounting body of evidence suggests traffic air pollution exposure imposes significant short- and long-term negative health effects on infants and children.  Considering the detrimental effects of early exposure to air pollution on individual health outcomes throughout the human life cycle, further pollution abatement can potentially provide substantial economic benefits, and rigorous methods to quantify the benefits of environmental policies are particularly important.

My research empirically measures the effects of environmental policy such as a gasoline tax on infant birth weight.
